H2B, Inc. offers a wide
range of civil and structural engineering services, as well as
geophysical methods for imaging the subsurface and the interior or
structures.
Civil
Our civil engineering
services include site development, drainage, infrastructure and
transportation design.
Structural
H2B's structural engineering services include condition assessments,
building design, infrastructure and transportation structures.
Geophysical
Geophysical services include locating pipes and voids using
Ground-Penetrating Radar, as well as concrete slab investigations
What is GPR?
GPR is a non-destructive technique that
uses radar waves to obtain images of the subsurface or the
interior of structures.
What can GPR be used for?
GPR can be used for utility line
location
subsurface void identification, and concrete thickness
estimation and rebar location. For example, most commercial
remodeling projects involve cutting or coring concrete floors that are
heavily reinforced with either conventional reinforcing steel or
post-tensioning steel. Damage to this steel is a high risk for
contractors during their projects and the use of GPR to map out the
location of steel can prevent such damage from occurring. In addition,
GPR has been used in archeological projects at potential construction
sites to determine if any historically significant subsurface features
are present, such as old buried structures or unmarked graves.
